Bluegrass @ Yulli’s Announce 2016 Christmas Show

Sweet Jelly Rolls

It’s December which means many of our favourite regular nights around the country are wrapping up for the year. And for Bluegrass @ Yulli’s in Sydney that means it’s time for a party.

The monthly jam and intimate performance night will be celebrating the season next Wednesday 14th December at Yulli’s in Surry Hills.

As always the night will kick off at 6pm with an all-invited bluegrass and old time jam – so make sure you come along with your mando, banjo, guitar or voice.

Then at 8pm local roots duo The Sweet Jelly Rolls (above) will be taking to the stage to help Bluegrass @ Yulli’s wrap up 2016 in style.

The night is 100% free – for more information check out the official Facebook event here.

Bluegrassified – Bluegrass @ Yulli’s UNHCR Fundraiser

Shelley's Murder Boys
Image Courtesy of Shelley’s Murder Boys

This month’s Bluegrass @ Yulli’s in Sydney is a very special show indeed as its their annual birthday UNHCR Fundraiser. Rather than the usual format which sees a feature artist or two take to the stage, the fundraiser will feature a bunch of Sydney’s top folk and bluegrass acts banging out a couple of tunes each all with the theme “Bluegrassified”.

Announced so far for the night are Shelley’s Murder Boys (above), Whoa Mule, The Plough, Mark, Ant & Gordon and The Willing Ponies. The bands will be playing bluegrass versions of songs from other genres such as Rock, Pop, Country and more.

Bluegrass @ Yulli’s takes place this Wednesday 16th November is free – but there will be the chance to donate to UNHCR throughout the show. As always Bluegrass @ Yulli’s kicks off with an all-invited jam session at 6pm – so bring down your fiddle, mando, guitar and more and join in the fun.

For more information check out the official Facebook event here.

Bluegrass @ Yulli’s for August 2016

Southern Gentlemen
Image Courtesy of The Southern Gentlemen

This Wednesday Bluegrass @ Yulli’s once again takes over the upstairs bar at Yulli’s Restaurant in Sydney for a night of pickin’ and jammin’.

Kicking off at 6pm, the first two hours of Bluegrass @ Yulli’s is dedicated to an all in bluegrass jam. Musicians are welcome to bring their mando, banjo, bass, fiddle or whatever they can pluck and play for to join in one of the best sessions in the city.

Then from 8pm The Southern Gentlemen from south of Sydney will take the stage to delight the audience with beautiful acoustic music and four part harmonies. Sounds pretty exciting.

As always Bluegrass @ Yulli’s is free entry. For more information check out the official Facebook event here.

“Jams O’Donnells Jigs” – Fairport Convention

One of my fiddle heroes, Dave Swarbrick, sadly passed away this week. He will be sorely missed but his music will live on forever. Here’s some classic Swarbs with Fairport Convention to get you through your Friday.

Next Wednesday the 15th Sydney bluegrass night Bluegrass @ Yulli’s returns for its June session and it’s looking like a massive night of music.

As always the night will kick off at 6pm with an all-in jam. Anyone with a smattering of musical talent and a love of folk, bluegrass and old time music is welcome to come down with their fiddle, mando, guitar, banjo or whatever and join in with some of Sydney’s finest musicians. It’s serious fun.

Then from 8pm not one but two of Sydney’s favourite bluegrass bands will be taking to the stage to fill our ears with sweet sweet music. Burnt Creek Deviation Bluegrass Band and Stillhouse Union will no doubt get your feet tapping and your hands clapping.

Bluegrass @ Yulli’s takes place at Yulli’s in Surry Hills on Wednesday 15th June and entry is free. For more information check out the official Facebook event here.
