The latest single from Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit’s highly anticipated new album “The Nashville Sound” (due on the 16th June) is the wonderfully rocky “Cumberland Gap”.
Not to be confused with the traditional old time track of the same name, “Cumberland Gap” is a raw, brutally honest song that covers what Isbell describes as “working class desperation”.

Last year Sydney small bar and music venue The Gasoline Pony held their first ever Get Folked Mini Folk Festival. The sold out festival saw the venue filled to brim with folky goodness with music across the folk music dispersed across two stages. There was even Morris Dancing I’m told – although that was usually on when I was heading to the bar for another drink.
This year The Gasoline Pony is doing it all again with the announcment of the Get Folked Mini Folk Festival on Saturday 17th June. The headliners for 2017 will be Timber and Steel favourites The Button Collective (above) who will be joined on the lineup by Toot, Queen Porter Stomp, The Low Down Riders, The Villebillies, Acca-Pony, Craig Edmondson and more to be announced soon. The whole event will kick off with a poets breakfast (which is how you know this is a real folk festival).
Morning and evening tickets for the Get Folked Mini Folk Festival are on sale now and we recommend you snap them up quick. There’s more announcements for the event coming soon so stay tuned!
There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Perth based singer-songwriter Helen Shanahan. Having released her debut album Every Little Sting at the start of the month Shanahan has just sold out her launch shows in WA.
Shanahan’s new single and video is “Camouflaged” which you can watch right here:
Victorian Americana six piece Georgia State Line have backed up an amazing turn at The National Folk Festival this year with the release of their new single “Older Than I Am”.
“These days I seem to usually be the youngest person in most settings I find myself in, and sometimes when you are younger people can misjudge or undermine what you’re about- within the music industry and beyond,” singer Georgia Delves explained of the track. “”Older Than I Am” is a song written out of the tiresome exercise that becomes when you are tied to a preconceived idea of your age bracket.”
The amazing English indie-folk singer-songwriter Nick Mulvey has just released his highly anticipated new single and video “Unconditional”. The track is Mulvey’s first since his incredible debut album First Mind and is the first taster for an as yet unnamed new album due later this year.
