Singer-songwriter Dustin Tebbutt has seen his star rise since becoming the darling of triple j a couple of years ago. And now the j’s have just debuted his beautiful latest single “First Light”.
“First Light” is the first taster of Dustin Tebbutt’s highly anticipated debut album of the same name which has been announced for the 5th August this year.
“The simple story? I met a girl, and over time she unlocked song after song until she’d inspired a whole album,” Tebbutt explained. “I know this isn’t the first time someone’s written an album about falling in love. That’s exactly why it feels so magical though – every time feels like the first time.”
Adelaide based singer-songwriter and Timber and Steel favourite Kaurna Cronin has just announced plans to release his second studio album Southern Loss.
The album is being billed as Cronin’s homage to Australia and is due for release on the 5th August. The first single from the album is the wonderful “Passion Parade” – check it out below:

The Middle East seem to be getting a lot of attention from the media this week with interviews and radio features and this sent us down a Youtube rabbit hole.
Today Sydney based singer-songwriter Em George will release her highly anticipated self-titled debut EP and Timber and Steel has been lucky enough to nab an exclusive stream.
The EP was produced by Ryan Miller (Oliver Tank, Delta Riggs, Magic Bones) and Matt O’Connor at The A&R Department (Harts, Magic Bones) and is a stunning representation of Em George’s lyric driven folk music.

Following an amazing debut in 2015 Hunter Valley based Americana, folk and alt-country music festival Dashville Skyline has announced plans to return in September this year.
The boutique festival was definitely a hit with genre fans last year with an amazing lineup of local and international artists and this year’s festival is definitely not to be missed.
Dashville Skyline will take place from the 30th September to 2nd October with tickets on sale now. No word on any artists yet but stay tuned.
In case you haven’t heard Angus Stone (Angus & Julia Stone) has a new solo project titled Dope Lemon. There’s an album on the way called Honey Bones (due on the 10th June) and a fuzzy new single titled “Uptown Folks”.
Melbourne indie-folkers Forest Falls have just released their wonderful new single and video “Archipelago Heart”. The luscious track is as much a a nod to 80s pop as it is the band’s indie-folk roots but still has all the lyrical and melodic hallmarks we’ve come to expect from the band.
“Archipelago Heart” is the first in a collection of works titled Modern Love which will be released throughout 2016.
“With Archipelago Heart, this first installation of the Modern Love collection, we tackle the issue of ‘love for displaced people’; we a band being honest in its convictions, and sound,” Jon Forest from the band explained.

If you’re in Sydney this weekend you’d do well to get down to Marrickville venue The Gasoline Pony for their all day mini-festival Get Folked. The Gasoline Pony will be teaming with the Merchant Brewing Company and local cafe Archie and Kirk to bring punters a day of amazing local folk music across two stages.
Get Folked takes place this Saturday 28th May at the Gasoline Pony in Sydney with music kicking off at 10am. Tickets are available for just the daylight, evening or for the entire day.
