The Brothers Comatose Announce Dashville Skyline Sideshows

The Brothers Comatose
Image Courtesy of The Brothers Comatose

San Francisco folk and bluegrass band The Brothers Comatose have already been announced as part of the excellent Dashville Skyline alt-country and Americana festival and now it looks like we’re going to get a buch of sideshows as well.

The Brothers Comatose will be touring their latest album City Painted Gold

“We wrote this album living in San Francisco as it was changing from a weird, art-friendly mecca to a place that only super rich tech workers could afford,” Ben Morrison from the band explained. “Things started changing – venues were closing down, and artist and musician friends moved away. What is San Francisco without its weirdoes? That’s what the song City Painted Gold is about and that’s why it’s the name of this record.”

Wednesday 28th September – Retreat Hotel, Melbourne, VIC
Thursday 29th September – Django Bar, Sydney, NSW
Friday 30th September – Rad Bar, Wollongong, NSW

Jordie Lane Announces New Album and National Tour

Jordie Lane

The incomparable Jordie Lane has announced plans to release a brand new album, GLASSELLLAND on the 16th September this year. This will be Lane’s first full length studio album in 5 years and is said to see him push his sound far beyond the folk and alt-country sound he has become synonymous with.

“It felt like fresh start, a time to get back to my youthful ways, approaching music with naivety and fearlessness,” Jordie Lane explained. “There was this sign on a hill, around the corner from our first recording space that stood only 3 metres high, that said GLASSELLLAND in big block letters. It was this ironic take on the original HOLLYWOODLAND sign. Instantly it became the symbol for the album before we’d even started writing. It was like a visual mantra that said: “Your dreams are endless!” But the difference was it was not all glossy and fake Hollywood. It was a mundane, regular working class, real, gritty, neighborhood. Not far from what my hometown of Thornbury was like when I was growing up in Melbourne. Being the producers and engineers, Clare and I learnt how to use the recording gear, and inevitably our lack of knowledge gave us a sense of freedom and the so called “mistakes” gave the record a truth and authenticity that couldn’t be orchestrated any other way.”

To celebrate the release of GLASSELLLAND Jordie Lane and his new band The Sleepers will be heading out on tour this October and November, kicking everything off with an appearance at Dashville Skyline. Check out the full list of dates below:
