Bear’s Den’s single “Elysium” has been out for about a year now, but last week the band released an alternative video featuring footage from some of their favourite shows of the year.
Check out the new version of “Elysium” below – and then here to check out the original.
We’re really enjoying the music we’re hearing from Dan Flynn & The State of Things (the artist formally known as Major Chord). So we were so chuffed when they asked us to debut their new video “Heavy Lies the Crown”.
The track reminds me a lot of traditional English folk music, particularly with the male and female vocals throughout and the rythmic drone created with the guitars and strings.
Check out the video here:
“Heavy Lies the Crown” is taken from Dan Flynn & The State of Things’ upcoming album Preparing for Flight which is due for release on the 16th October – pre-orders are now available via Bandcamp with two tracks immediately downloadable. Dan Flynn & The State of Things will be launching the record at Shadow Electric in Melbourne on the 28th November, with more dates to follow soon.

Sydney’s Heartbreaker Sessions are back this weekend with a lineup that’s bound to get alt-country, folk and Americana fans excited.
The Heartbreaker Sessions this week will be the official launch show for Jep and Dep’s latest single “Cut All Ties”. If anyone saw Darren Cross at the Heartbreaker Sessions a few weeks ago you’ll know how amazing his music is – and when you combine his heartbreaking voice with the stunning Jessica Cassar to make up Jep and Dep you’re in for something special.
Joining them will be Darwin born, Sydney based singer-songwriter Leah Flanagan, a favourite of Timber and Steel.
I first stumbled across Australian troubadour Musketeer busking at the National Folk Festival earlier this year. He had a wonderfully easy going style that I was immediately drawn to and that made him stand out from the crowd – no easy feat considering the popularity of busking at The National.
After a busking tour of Europe Musketeer has jumped into the studio to record his new single “Fleece”. Timber and Steel are very proud to be the first to bring you the video for “Fleece”, directed by Karl Pearson. Check it out here:

Sydney dark-folk duo Willowy have given Timber and Steel the distinct pleasure of premiering their new single “More Than a Shadow”. The haunting track was self produced and reported by Ian Pritchett (Angus & Julia Stone, The Beautiful Girls) in a cabin nestled in the Blue Mountains and is taken from Willowy’s upcoming EP The White Dress.
“”More Than a Shadow” is driven by the irrational fear of sinking into the shadows; an ethereal presence acquiesced, complying silently to the conformity of society. Dismissing the life laid out to us, because of the faint, ineffable feeling that you are destined for something more than the ordinary, and thus emerging from the shadows,” Willowy explained.
