The long awaited new album from Ben Cooper’s Radical Face project is almost here having been given a release date of the 4th October this year (read the full story here). But if you can’t wait that long (it’s been 4 years since the last album after all) don’t worry – Radical Face have decided to release a series of four “Prequal” EPs called The Bastards over the coming months featuring tracks that have not made the cut on The Roots. And best of all they’re going to be free!

“I wrote a lot of music for “The Family Tree” project,” Cooper told FILTER Magazine. “I’ve been writing for it since 2007, just after my last solo record came out. When working on a record there are always songs that I finish and like, but they don’t make sense on the actual record. They obstruct the flow of the album, or tip the overall balance in a way I’m not shooting for. But since they are still a part of the overall theme, I’m taking all these odd songs and releasing them.”

The very first one of these EPs, dubbed The Bastards: Volume One contains three new songs and can be downloaded in exchange for your e-mail address over at FILTER Magazine. As soon as we hear about the next volume we’ll let you know.
