With a swanky ceremony last night that included performances from Donovan, Levellers, Bellowhead and more, The BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards are over for another year. This year’s winners included Timber and Steel favourites Bellowhead (Best Group, Best Live Act) and Nancy Kerr & James Fagan (Best Duo) but sadly failed to recognise Laura Marling in the category of Best Original Song (for “Rambling Man”). The night also saw folk legend Donovan accept his lifetime achievement award, announced mid last month.

its beyond frustrating at times how decent folk music does not get the praie that it deserevs. i jut simply adore bellowhead and i hope that they do get an award. i was keeping an eye on the brit award nods and mumford and sons have been nominated for 2 awards but whether they get them is another days work. from what i see from the brit awards side of things. they have a lot of well european and american pop stars but i honestly think that if anything mumford and sons deserve an award in their own right because they are such a great band to liten and watch along to as well
