Mullum Music Festival Announces Its 2015 Lineup

The Mullum Music Festival returns this November with a lineup that once again boasts some of Australia and the world’s favourite artists, with plenty of folky goodness for the Timber and Steel readers.

The festival will this year be headlined by legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith who is returning to Australia for the first time in six years.

Joining Ron Sexsmith will be the likes of We Two Thieves, Ben Ottewell, Suzannah Espie, Harry James Angus, TinPan Orange, All Our Exes Live in Texas, Hat Fitz and Cara, Lucie Thorne and Hamish Stuart, Starboard Cannons, Sweet Jean, Oh Pep!, Raised By Eagles, Loren Kate, The Button Collective, Fred Smith and many many more.

The Mullum Music Festival takes place in Mullumbimby NSW from the 19th to 22nd November. For more details check out the official site here.

Blue Mountains Music Festival Announces First Artists for 2015

It feels as though we’ve been bombarded with festival announcements over the last few weeks and that’s set to continue with the Blue Mountains Music Festival confirming the first round of artists for 2015. Held in Katoomba from the 13th to 15th March, next year will mark the 20th aniversary of the Blue Mountains Music Festival.

The lineup announced so far is pretty impressive and includes John Butler (above), Buffy Sainte-Marie, Dan Sultan, Daniel Champagne, Castlecomer, The Bearded Gypsy Band, Wagons, The Company, Leah Flanagan, All Our Exes Live in Texas, We Two Thieves, Jordie Lane, Perch Creek and many many more.

The Woodford Folk Festival Drops 2014 Lineup

There were a ton of folk festival announcements all over the weekend but the one that everyone is talking about is the 2014 Woodford Folk Festival lineup. The full musical program dropped yesterday with the usual mix of folk, roots, trad, singer-songwriter and I-don’t-know-why-they’re-at-a-folk-festival artists.

The lineup itself is too huge to list here (you can see it for yourself here) but the highlights include the likes of Violent Femmes (USA), The Cat Empire, Archie Roach, Nahko and Medicine for the People (USA), Jeff Lang, Lau (SCOT), Tiny Ruins (NZ), We Two Thieves, Shooglenifty (SCOT), Flap!, Husky, Lior, Mama Kin, Siskin River, Andrew Clermont, The Mae Trio, Fred Smith, Lucy Wise Trio, Oh Pep!, Betty & Oswald, The Company and so so so much more.

Port Fairy Announces First Round of Artists for 2015

March 2014 feels like an age away but that doesn’t mean it’s not time to start planning for the folk festival season – and to make your life a little easier the Port Fairy Folk Festival has announced its first round of artists for next year.

The lineup is headed up by Christine Anu, John Butler Trio and Charlie Musselwhite and also includes the likes of All Our Exes Live In Texas, Ami Williamson, Ash & Bloom, Bobby & the Pins, Catherine Britt, Chris While & Julie Matthews, Enda Kenny Band, Hat Fitz & Cara Robinson, Himmerland, Jan Preston’s Boogie Circus, Jeff Lang, Jodi Martin, Jordie Lane, Lake Street Dive, Mark Seymour & the Undertow, Marlon Williams, Maru Tarang, Sharon Shannon Band, Steve Poltz, The Black Sorrows, The Chipolatas, The Orbweavers, The Yearlings and We Two Thieves.
