Reviews

Gigs

“Our pick of the Falls Festival Byron Bay programming at The Grove was Ben Wilson – performing as a 3 piece act that had us hooked from from the first strum of a string. Between them, the outfit sported double bass, violin, acoustic guitar and harmonica, plus their fabulous harmonised vocals, crowded round a very vintage microphone, managing to capture their tunes before the breeze could” – Part 1 of our Falls Festival Byron Bay Review here

“From emotive choruses, to beautiful moments of quiet among the electricity of the band, Julia Jacklin had it all going on. Her rendition of folk song “Wonderland” showcased the solace of her voice accompanied by only her electric guitar, and the vibrato timbre to her voice had an enchanting effect on the audience” – Part 2 of our Falls Festival Byron Bay Review here

Introducing Adelaide’s New Regular Night The Porch Sessions

The Porch Sessions
Image Courtesy of The Porch Sessions

If you’re in Adelaide and like your music live and intimate then you’re going to love The Porch Sessions. The brainchild of music lover Sharni Honor, The Porch Sessions is a series of traveling music events that take place on verandahs and in backyards across suburban Adelaide.

“The mission is to get The Porch Sessions to explore the intricate corners of Adelaide suburbia, scouting out its hidden gems, its humble abodes that need to be shown to the world. With hosts not having to lift a finger or open their doors. The team sweeps in like a festive hurricane, spreading winds of colour amid the greenery of their house surroundings” The Porch Sessions’ Facebook Page explains.

The Porch Sessions have already had a successful “first season” and now have a bunch of Timber and Steel friendly artists planned for the coming months like Al Parkinson and Winterbourne. We’ve listed the upcoming events below – for more information on The Porch Sessions check out their official Facebook page here.

Sunday 12th October – Al Parkinson, Tim Moore and Juno
Sunday 2nd November – Winterbourne and Special Guests
Sunday 7th December – Shaun Kirk, Halfway to Forth and Alice Haddy
