More Artists Added to The National Folk Festival in Their Christmas Announcement

Christmas is almost here and the National Folk Festival has a very special gift for you – another artist announcement! And it’s one of our favourites so far!

This time around the National Folk Festival has added festival favourites the London Klezmer Quartet, traditional celtic flautist and singer Nuala Kennedy, the eclectic Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen, stunning singer songwriter Lucie Thorne, bluegrass fusion masters Mustered Courage (above), award winning folksters Oh Pep! and the indomitable Spooky Men’s Chorale.

The National have also announced a bunch of artists from the 2015 feature state NSW including Mike McClellan, Jan Preston’s Boogie Circus, Christine Wheeler and Friends and Andrew Hull.

Add to that a fine International contingent with New Zealand’s Helen Webby and Davy Stuart and Finland’s Pekka Mikkola.

The National Folk Festival takes place over the Easter Long Weekend from the 2nd to the 6th April 2015. For more information check out the official site here.

The Woodford Folk Festival Announce 2013 Lineup

Over the weekend The Woodford Folk Festival revealed its 2013 program and it’s pretty darn impressive. With over 500 artists announced in 28 venues over six days Woodford 2013 is arguably Australia’s biggest and most diverse folk festival.

The festival doesn’t really have headliners as such but we’ve spotted a bunch of international and Australian Timber and Steel favourites including Bearded Gypsy Band, Beth Orton, Buffalo Tales, Busby Marou, Castlecomer, Clare Bowditch, Darren Hanlon, Jordie Lane, Rose Cousins, Matt Corby, Sam Amidon, The Crooked Fiddle Band, The Quarry Mountain Dead Rats, The Twoks, Andrew Winton, Claude Hay, Hat Fitz & Cara, Whitetop Mountaineers, Andrew Clermont, Andy Irvine, Spooky Men’s Chorale, Thelma Plum and many many more.

First Round of Artists for the Blue Mountains Music Festival 2013

The latest festival to give us a glimpse at their 2013 lineup is the wonderful Blue Mountains Music Festival. Held in Katoomba on the 15th, 16th and 17th March the Blue Mountains of Music Festival celebrates the best in folk, roots and contemporary music and is close to one of our favourite festivals of the year.

And a big part of that is the artists they’re able to attract. In this announcement alone we have the likes of Arlo Guthrie, Gurrumul (above), Luka Bloom, Seth Lakeman, Ngaiire, Spooky Men’s Chorale, Kim Churchill, The April Maze, Perch Creek Family Jug Band, Jack Carty, Nick And Liesl, Bellyache Ben And The Steamgrass Boys and many more fine performers.
