Sarah Blasko, Holly Throsby and Sally Seltmann, otherwise known as all female supergroup Seeker Lover Keeper, released a bunch of details surrounding their collaboration over the weekend and we’re more than a little excited here at Timber and Steel. Seriously, can you think of a better way to start your Monday morning that with beautiful music from some of Australia’s most gifted singer-songwriters?

First of all, we have a release date for the Seeker Lover Keeper album for the 3rd of June. That’s just over two weeks away.

Secondly, the ladies have released not one, not two, but three videos for their first singles “Even Though I’m A Woman”, “On My Own” and “Light All My Lights”. All three videos were directed by Natalie van den Dungen (who has worked on some of our favourite clips from the likes of Darren Hanlon and Wagons) and feature performances from Australian acting greats Aden Young, John Waters and Barry Otto. The other cool thing about the songs is that the lead singer in each is not the original author lending an extra element to the collaboration. You can watch the three clips below:

UPDATE: The original videos we embedded have been disabled. To watch them head over to the official Seeker Lover Keeper website.

“Light All My Lights” – Written by: Holly Throsby, Lead vocals: Sarah Blasko

“Even Though I’m A Woman” – Written by: Sally Seltmann, Lead vocals: Holly Throsby

Blasko, Seltmann, Throsby Trio Revealed

Remember waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in August last year when the interwebs went all a flutter over news that Sarah Blasko, Sally Sletmann and Holly Throsby were forming a supergroup and recording an album in New York? And then apart from one blog post from Blasko we’ve heard nothing about it since? Well it looks as though with today’s Splendour in the Grass lineup announcement that the trio’s plans are finally coming into fruition.

Going by the moniker Seeker Lover Keeper, Blasko, Selmann and Throsby look to be making their first appearance together at this year’s Splendour. Nothing has been revealed yet about their music although given what we know about them individually we can probably guess that Seeker Lover Keeper’s sound will be on the folkier end of pop. The trio’s Splendour bio does reveal some clues about the project:

“All three are distinct talents, but there are common threads between their songwriting too: an underlying sense of nostalgia; the golden, sing-along pop tunes; and the complicated lyrics about seeking love, and how difficult it is to hold onto once you’ve got it.”

At the moment Seeker Lover Keeper’s web site is a blank slate and their Facebook page has just been opened. As soon as we hear more about the project we’ll let you know.
