The Blue Mountains Music Festival Adds More Artists to 2018 Lineup

The 2018 Blue Mountains Music Festival just got a whole lot bigger with the addition of just over a dozen more artists to the lineup.

This announcement is headlined by Vicki Thorne from The Waifs and Archie Roach along with the likes of All Our Exes Live in Texas, SON (Susan O’Neill) (IRE), Steve Appel & Melanie Horsnell, Elephant Sessions (SCOT), Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse, Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker (UK), Faith i Branko (SERB), Frank Burkitt Band (NZ), Linda Mizzi, Monique Clare Duo, Charm of Finches and more.

The Blue Mountains Music Festival will is held from 16th to the 18th March in Katoomba, NSW – head over to their official site for more details and how to get your hands on tickets.

Monique Clare Announces Debut Solo EP By The Stars

Earlier this year Brisbane based cellist and songwriter Monique Clare was named by the Folk Alliance Australia as the 2017 Young Artist of the Year. Since then she’s also managed to successfully crowd-fund her debut EP which will be released this Friday 18th August.

Titled By The Stars the EP was partially recorded in the USA by Patrick Laird (Break of Reality) and completed back in Brisbane with Luke Woollett at Hunting Ground Studios. The first taster from By The Stars is the beautiful “Two Birds” which you can watch the video of below:

To celebrate the release of By The Stars Monique Clare will be launching the EP at the Brisbane Powerhouse this Saturday 19th August as part of the Restrung Festival. She’ll also be appearing at the Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival and is promising some more festival announcements to come – check out the full list of announced dates below:

The Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival Announces 2017 Lineup

Every year the Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival manages to deliver one of the most exciting lineups of the year, featuring the best in bluegrass, old time and folk artists from around the country and around the world.

Held in the small northern NSW town of Dorrigo, the Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival is an intimate, community run event with a really nice vibe and so much great music. This year they’re also holding the inaugural Old-Time Music School in the lead up to the festival, from the 25th to the 27th October. The Old-Time Music School will give players to learn alongside some of the best musicians in the business – this year will feature the likes of Ashlee Watkins (The New Macedon Rangers), Shay Garriock, Andrew Small (The New Macedon Rangers), Mac Traynham, Jeremy Marcotte and Foghorn Stringband. Workshops at the school will include traditional fiddle and banjo music, instrument workshops, old time ensemble workshops, folk singing, concerts, jamming and a festival performance opportunity – for more information check out the official site here.
