Taken from the the 1984 movie Cal and featuring the talents of Paul Brady (tin whistle, mandolin) and Liam O’Flynn (uillean pipes), “Irish Boy” is among some of Knopfler’s best soundtrack work. A fitting song for a week with St Patrick’s Day and a new Mark Knopfler album.

Laura Jean and Aldous Harding Announce April Tour

Tour of Australia’s most exciting singer-songwriters, Laura Jean and Aldous Harding, are heading out on a mini tour together with dates announced in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney this April. Both singers have been getting quite a bit of buzz recently so getting the chance to see them together is a real treat.

Kyneton Music Festival Announces 2015 Lineup

The Kyneton Music Festival will be in its third year in 2015 and it’s looking to have one of the best lineups yet. Set in the beautiful Victorian town of Kyneton, north-west of Melbourne, the Kyneton Music Festival is set to take place on the 20th and 21st of February this year.

The 2015 lineup is eclectic to say the least but there’s a whole bunch of Timber and Steel friendly artists including Laura Jean, Little Bastard (above), Tully on Tully, Charles Jenkins & The Zhivagos, Liz Stringer, Tracy McNeil and many more.

The Melbourne Folk Club Announces Summer Season

The Melbourne Folk Club is one of the success stories of 2014 – bringing amazing folk music, both Australian and international, to a regular night right in the heart of Melbourne.

The night takes place at Bella Union in Melbourne’s inner-North, mostly on Wednesdays but sometimes throughout the week to accommodate touring artists. The Melbourne Folk Club this week announced its summer season and the lineup is looking as strong as ever.
