Happy International Women’s Day 2012

Violin Lady

As always we thought we’d recognise the incredible contribution women around the world have made to folk music on this, International Women’s Day.

To all the women who have strapped on a guitar, plucked a banjo, bowed a fiddle, sung a melody or made this world a richer place with their music, we applaud you. You make this a folkier place to live!

Happy International Women’s Day

Given that today is International Women’s Day we thought we’d pay tribute to all of the wonderful, talented, hardworking women who make some of our favourite folk music.

To Laura and Emmy and Florence and Joanna.
To Missy and Julia and Sarah and Holly.
To Lisa and Taasha and Clare and Katie.
To Eddi and Joni and Joan and Emmylou.
To every woman who has touched our hearts and brightened our days – keep making beautiful music.
