Watch the New David Gray Video “Enter Lightly”

David Gray

Celebrated singer-songwriter David Gray this month released his new album The Best Of and has just now revealed the video for his new single “Enter Lightly”.

The video features Gray painting a large canvas in the style of Jackson Pollack.

“Obviously, I used to be a painter and music and painting were two separate wings of the way my brain was lit up,” David Gray explained. “Then at a certain point I concentrated on music and I let painting and drawing go, and I don’t really know why, I’ve always felt kind of bad about it like it’s a dead friend … I’m hoping to resuscitate that friend today!”

“Nashville seems like a cool town. Just like one massive working museum. Everyone walks around in fancy shirts and expensive Stetson hats and they all love country music. I love country music so it was a thrill to hang out on Broadway and see all the places you’ve read about in these country music scrapbooks and biographies”Benjamin Folke Thomas chats to Aiden Quinn. I think Heidi Talbot’s is one of my favourite versions but The Tiger and Me also have a cracking take on it if you ever get a chance to hear it.

“Our Sunshine” – Paul Kelly & Uncle Bill

I think I have seen this song covered by Australian bluegrass bands more often than any other song, which must cement it as a modern Australian bluegrass standard. “Our Sunshine” is taken from Smoke, the 1999 album Paul Kelly collaborated on with Melbourne bluegrass band Uncle Bill.

Friday Folk Flashback

“Dust of Uruzgan” – Fred Smith

Friday Folk Flashback

“Railroad Man” – Eels
