Port Fairy Announces Second Round of Artists

This week the second round of artists were announced for the Port Fairy Folk Festival and once again we’re looking at some big hitters to join the already announced Ayleen O’Hanlon, Eric Bogle, Manran, Mary Black, Pierce Brothers, Ruby Boots, The Bushwackers, The East Pointers, The Young’uns and more.

On the international front Port Fairy has revealed the likes of Cedric Burnside Project (USA), Shooglenifty (Scotland), Kristina Olsen (Canada), Steve Earle & The Dukes (USA, above) Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin (UK) and Spiro (UK).

Locally the aditional artists are just as strong with Archie Roach, Colin Hay, Graeme Connors, Cat Canteri, Damian Howard, Flamenco Fire, Kaurna Cronin, Marcia Howard, Oriel Glennen, Sol Nation, The Barleyshakes, The BordererS, The Furbelows, The Little Stevies, The Mae Trio, The Timbers, The Tolka Big Band and Tinpan Orange all added.

The Port Fairy Folk Festival is held from the 11th to the 14th March in Port Fairy, Victoria. Tickets for 2016 are already on sale – check out the official web site for more information.

Darwin Festival Launches Program

The Darwin Festival launched its 2012 program today and there’s plenty for top end folk fans to be excited about. With a full schedule of events from dance to theatre to Comedy to visual arts and of course music The Darwin Festival is set to take place from the 9th to 26th August.

The musical lineup is headed up by the one and only Kenny Rogers with appearances from Colin Hay, Graveyard Train, Holly Throsby (above, presenting music from her children’s album See!), Lanie Lane, Ngaiire, Nicky Bomba’s Bustamento, TinPan Orange and many more.

New Festival Riverboats Announces 2012 Lineup

Victorians are in for something pretty special after the brand new player on the festival scene, the Riverboats Music Festival, announced its inaugural 2012 lineup. Held in Echuca-Moama on the Murray River (two and a half hours from Melbourne) on the 17th to the 19th February, the Riverboats Music Festival lineup includes the likes of Tex Perkins And The Band Of Gold, Colin Hay, The Bamboos, Mark Seymour, Mick Thomas’ Roving Commission, Vika And Linda Bull, Lanie Lane (above), The Audreys, Clairy Browne and The Bangin’ Rackettes, Benny Walker, Ryan Meeking and The Bride Stripped Back. More than a couple Timber and Steel favourites floating amongst that list right?
