Folk music super group Haas Kowert Tice – featuring Brittany Haas (Crooked Still, Dave Rawlings) on fiddle, Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers) on bass and Jordan Tice (Tony Trischka) on guitar – last month added mandolin player Dominick Leslie to their lineup and changed their name to Hawktail.

The first single from the newly expanded band is the wondeful instrumental “Unless” which is also the first taste from their upcoming album.

David Rawlings Announces New Album Poor David’s Almanack

Celebrate Americana singer-songwriter David Rawlings has announced plans to release his third album Poor David’s Almanack on the 11th August.

The album is Rawlings’ first without the Dave Rawlings Machine moniker and but still features longtime compatriot Gillian Welch as well as many of the his regular collaborators including Willie Watson, Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers), Brittany Haas (Crooked Still), Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show) and Taylor & Griffin Goldsmith (Dawes).

After the huge response to the Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings Machine Australian tours this month one final, very special musical celebration has been announced.

Dream A Highway will bring together Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings Machine along with Willie Watson and Haas Kowert Tice for 4 hours of amazing music at Festival Hall in Melbourne on the 20th February. Tickets are on sale now so we recommend you get in quick if you want to snap them up.

Details of the 2016 Sunshine Fiddle Camp

This January the next Sunshine Fiddle Camp is set to take place at Alexandra Headlands on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. The camp provides an opportunity for fiddle players of all ages and experience to come together for a series of workshops with some of the best players in the world.

This time around the international tutors will be Brittany Haas (above) and Tristan Clarridge, both formerly of US chamber folk band Crooked Still. Local tutors include Jack Wilson, Jeri Foreman and more.

The Sunshine Fiddle Camp takes place from the 10th to the 15th January. For more information check out the official web site here.
