I first met alt-country singer Raechel Whitchurch a few years ago when she played banjo with her singer-songwriter sister Faith Lee.

Whitchurch has since struck out on her own, recording her debut EP Outlaw with legendary producer Bill Chambers. The EP was released on the 18th April and debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country Music charts.

The first single from Outlaw is “Kerobokan Blues” which was released in the lead up to the first anniversary of the execution of Bali 9 member Andrew Chan – the track was inspired by Chan’s attitude towards his fate.

Check out the video for “Kerobokan Blues” below:

Raechel Whitchurch will be launching Outlaw on Wednesday 22nd June at The Vanguard in Sydney – details here.

While Alice Springs singer-songwriter Jacinta Price is only now about to release her debut album she comes to it with a wealth of experience. Price has been chalking up the performance experience recently as a member of hip hop crew Catch The Fly (where she performs under the moniker Sassy J) and as the presenter on the national children’s television program Yamba’s Playtime.

Jacinta Price’s new album is Dry River and is a melting pot of influences, from folk to blues to country and soul. Dry River saw Price working with legendary Australian artist Bill Chambers in the producer chair along with fellow Central Australian singer-songewriter (and Timber and Steel favourite) Colin Lillie who also co-wrote a couple of the tracks. The album is due for release on the 21st November.

To officially launch the album Jacinta Price will be performing a free concert at the Old Telegraph Station in Alice Springs on Thursday 21st November with a special guest appearance by Bill Chambers. Details are below along with Price’s duet with Colin Lillie from the album, “Night & Day”:
