Not Much Folk and Acoustic on the First Falls and Southbound Announcements

Ok, we know that if you want to go and see folk music over the New Years period your best bet is head north to the Woodford Folk Festival. But we’re also big supporters of The Falls Festival and Southbound Festival as they always manage to get some big name indie-folk and acoustic names on their lineups – check out our review of last year’s Falls Festival here.

The first lineup announcement for Falls and Southbound 2014/15 hit this morning and surprisingly this year folk, acoustic and roots based musicians are pretty thin on the ground. Outside of The John Butler Trio (above), Kim Churchill and Vance Joy there’s not a lot else that’s too Timber and Steel friendly – although as fans of music of all genres the lineup does look pretty good.

We’re hoping that as more artists are added we’ll start to see more acoustic seep into the lineup. If you’re keen to head to Falls the ticket ballot is now open. Check out the full lineup so far below:

Alt-J, Big Freedia, The Black Lips, Bluejuice, Cold War Kids, DMAs, Glass Animals, George Ezra, Jagwar Ma, Jamie XX, Joey Bada$$, John Butler Trio, Kim Churchill, The Kite String Tangle, Milky Chance, Movement, The Presets, Remi, Röyksopp & Robyn, Run The Jewels, Safia, SBTRKT (Live), Spiderbait, Sticky Fingers, The Temper Trap, Tensnake, Tkay Maidza, Todd Terje (Live), Tycho, Vance Joy, Wolf Alice + More To Be Announced.
