When I first started Timber and Steel in 2010 one of the artists that was most recommended to me was Melbourne singer-songwriter Pete Uhlenbruch, AKA Owls of the Swamp. Unfortunately by the time I discovered his amazing music Uhlenbruch had decamped to Europe and has been living and working there ever since.

But in that time I’ve developed an online relationship with Owls of the Swamp and have been following his career closely – so when he announced that he would be returning to Australia for a series of intimate shows and asked if Timber and Steel wanted to present them I jumped at the chance.

“It’s great to be back, and quite surreal to be honest,” Pete Uhlenbruch told me in our recent interview. “So much has been happening and developing overseas over the last two years but after I slam into Tullamarine airport and roll down to my favourite cafe to order “the usual” it almost feels like I never left”.

The Melbourne leg of the Owls of the Swamp tour is extra special as it takes place this Sunday 2nd June at our regular matinée show at The Workers Club. Joining Owls of the Swamp in support will be two of Melbourne’s hottest artists – experimental vocal group Aluka and singer-songwriter Al Parkinson. Doors open at 1:30pm and tickets are just $8 on the door. For more information check out the official Workers Club site here. The set times for the show are below:

Al Parkinson – 2pm
Aluka – 3pm
Owls of the Swamp – 4pm
