It must be the season for new albums. Sydney’s undisputed kings of chainsaw-gypsy-folk-metal-mayhem, The Crooked Fiddle Band, are about to drop their latest album Over Grown Tales. We’ve been lucky enough to have a listen already (one of the perks of being folk music nerds with an internet voice) and we can tell you – it’s amazing!
Over Grown Tales doesn’t have an official release date as yet but we’ve been assured it’ll be available in the next few weeks. If you keep an eye on the band’s Bandcamp you’ll be the first to know when it appears. The wonderfully crazy album art is above with the full track listing below:
1. Countess Bathory’s Finishing School for Girls
2. The Ruination of Junkyard Joe
3. Clockwork Bride
4. All These Pitchforks Make Me Nervous
5. The Mountain Hag’s Advice
6. Beneath Ash and Ocean
7. Over Hill and Under Hill
8. What the Thunder Said
We’ve already heard the first single “Countess Bathory’s Finishing School for Girls” (which we’ve embedded again for your listening pleasure) and it won’t be long before a full review of Over Grown Tales hits our page. In the meantime you can catch The Crooked Fiddle Band at their official single launch at the Katoomba RSL on the 28th May (details here). After that the band are winging their way over to Europe for a tour before returning to official bring Over Grown Tales to the people of Australia – and don’t worry as soon as there are details you’ll be the first to know.
