Sam Lee is an artist that has been an absolute revelation this year. In reinventing the traditional music of the British Isles on his Mercury Nominated album Ground of Its Own Lee has ensured this music remains fresh and relevant to folk lovers and non folk lovers alike.
The song that first piqued my interest in Sam Lee’s music was “The Ballad of George Collins”, a pagan tale of visions and faerie folk. That song now has a beautiful video set on a stage with contemporary dancers. Watch it below:
