Sydney has a number of fantastic community based celebrations but there’s a special place in our heart for the Newtown Festival. It may be crowded, it may be hot, but every year we find ourselves returning and really really enjoying ourselves. Which is probably mainly down to the music – each year the festival draws on the rich seam of local talent to showcase some amazing live music on its various stages and each year there’s plenty of folk music to go around.
The 2012 Newtown Festival is set to take place on the 11th November at the Camperdown Memorial Park. The festival raises money each year for the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre and boasts three stages of music.
The Newtown Festival yesterday announced its first round of artists for 2012 and there’s a number of Timber and Steel favourites in the mix including The Crooked Fiddle Band, The Rescue Ships, Little Bastard, Caitlin Park, Battleships and many many more.
The full list of artists announced for the Newtown Festival is below with plenty more to come. For more information check out the official web site.
