Ok, so this isn’t strictly about folk but it’s worth a mention. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Melbourne Cup this November organisers are putting together a superstar concert and have just announced Peter Gabriel as the headliner. Joining Gabriel are other “legendary” international acts Chicago, Peter “F**king” Frampton and americana-rockers America.
The Australian contingent of the lineup includes Kate Ceberano, Blue King Brown, Ross Wilson, Joe Camilleri, Deborah Conway, Stephen Cummings, Danielle Spencer and Daryl Braithwaite (probably singing “Horses”). The concert will be held at Dockland Stadium, a smaller section of Etihad Stadium on Monday 1st November.
No word on ticket prices yet but they’ll be going on sale on the 24th June.
